Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is unclear and the American officials has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
