Manchester United v Brighton & Hove Albion – Premier League Match Report

Preamble

Man Utd, coming off victories against Liverpool and Sunderland, look to make it three Premier League wins straight this evening. They have momentum under Ruben Amorim for the very first time!

However, the opposing team are the Seagulls, having triumphed during three consecutive away games at the Theatre of Dreams, and six of the last seven encounters in this rivalry.

Forget the momentum; Brighton have found very comfortable. That said, Brighton are otherwise famously erratic as their hosts, therefore the fixture appears both fascinating and potentially rollickingly good entertainment.

Kick-off is at 5.30pm BST and we say this for the last time in a while with daylight saving ending, folks. It’s on!

The Teams

Manchester United: Lammens in goal, Yoro starts, de Ligt, Shaw at the back, Diallo, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dalot on the flank, Mbeumo attacking, Cunha, Sesko completes the XI.

The Seagulls: Verbruggen between the posts, Wieffer in defense, van Hecke starting, Dunk, Kadioglu, Baleba, Ayari, Minteh, Rutter, De Cuyper, Welbeck leading the line.
Reserves: Steele, Tzimas, Watson, Kostoulas, Milner, Boscagli, Gomez, Coppola, Oriola.

Team News

United decided on two adjustments in the wake of the Anfield triumph against Liverpool. Šeško starts replacing Mount, now on the substitutes, plus the decisive scorer Harry Maguire doesn’t feature completely, Leny Yoro taking his place at the back.

Maguire picked up an injury this week in practice. Tyrell Malacia is named in a Premier League squad for the first time this season.

Brighton & Hove Albion make one change following victory at home over Newcastle. Likely a defensive move, including De Cuyper replacing Gómez, on the bench.

Welbeck, ex-United player champions in in 2012-13, returns to Old Trafford in fine form of four goals in three games, an improvement on in his previous 15.

Build-Up

The manager pays little heed about the views of Liverpool’s boss … but Danny Welbeck is highly concerned about the considerations by the former Chelsea manager.

Various reports suggest that this match may influence for both teams’ seasons as the Premier League continues.

Star performers include the captain from the hosts plus Welbeck for the visitors, both in fine form in recent weeks.
