Patriots Equal Best Winning Streak From Tom Brady Era with Triumph Over New York Jets
Rookie Henderson has tallied five touchdowns this season
The New England Patriots tied their best victory streak from the Brady period as they overcame AFC East opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since iconic QB Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019
Quarterback Maye threw for 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph bolsters the Patriots lead at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets bottom after falling to a 2-8 mark
The opposing team had gone in front at their home field with quarterback Fields scoring a short rushing score to conclude the New York's opening drive
But the home team answered in the second quarter as the rookie ran in two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third period to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"That was a big time for him delivering, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He wants to be excellent."
Fields threw to John Metchie toward the end of the third period to close the gap for the visitors but Borregales converted a two field goals in the final period as the Patriots sealed the victory
